Bird Watchers Dream Safari
Day 1
Arrive at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport where you will be received by our representative who will transfer you to your hotel.
After a sumptuous lunch, he will discuss the finer details of your safari itinerary, before you embark on a city tour that will include visits to some of the following attractions:
- Karen Blixen Museum: This is set in within the historic home of the late Karen Blixen.
- Giraffe Centre: This conservation centre was set up by the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife and is mainly concerned with the preservation of the rare Rothschild giraffe. A great opportunity to take some rare close up pictures of this magnificent animal.
- Daphne Sheldrick’s Foundation: This is dedicated to the conservation of the rhino and elephant.
- Kenya National Museum & Snake Park: For a cultural and historic experience, see the amazing collections of photographs, artworks, tools and cultural artifacts, wildlife, insects, flora and fauna that is the essence of this great country.
- Visit the snake park within the precincts of the museum, and see species of snakes and reptiles to be found in the region.
- Nairobi Animal Orphanage: Set at the entrance of the Nairobi National Park, this is home to orphaned animals rescued from the wilds and nursed back to health before being coaxed back into the wilds.
- Bomas of Kenya: Meander through clusters of African villages depicting life in the different cultural settings, and watch vivid displays of different tribal dance displays in the giant arena.
- Arts & Crafts Markets: The Arts & Crafts Markets and curio shops have amazing displays of the most colorful and creative collections of African jewellery, fashion items, beadwork, pottery and arts and crafts that are second to none in Africa.
Dinner and overnight stay Nairobi
Day 2
0730 hrs. After an early breakfast start your journey to the northern frontier district of Samburu. This will be a 4-½ hours drive through the rich agricultural highlands of Central Kenya to the dry semi arid region of Kenya’s Northern Frontier. Arrive in time for lunch at the Samburu Intrepids, a luxury tented camp on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River.
The Samburu Game Reserve is popularly known as “Born Free Country”, made famous by the world-renowned conservationist and artist, the Late Joy Adamson and her lioness, Elsa. The area is inhabited predominantly by the Samburu people, a proud and fierce warrior tribe from the Maa speaking people, the most famous of whom are the Maasai. The Reserve, and particularly the oasis like areas on the banks of the river, is home to a wide variety of bird life.
After lunch embark on a guided trek to catch sightings of the over 150 species of bird life that are on record. After a fulfilling bird watching afternoon, return to the lodge in time for dinner.
Meals and overnight stay Samburu National Reserve
Day 3
Embark on an early morning game drive.
Animals that abound in the park include the lion, elephant, giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, gerenuk, Beisa Oryx, crocodile, cheetah, buffalo and rhino among other species.
Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.
The afternoon may be spent trekking on camel-back and this would be a perfect opportunity to combine this with bird watching and a cultural visit to a Samburu village.

Day 4
After an early breakfast, check out of the lodge and head due south, past the vast Laikipia and meander down the escarpment to the bed of the Great Rift Valley. Your next destination is the Lake Nakuru National Park, a true ornithological paradise with hundreds of bird species on record, the most famous being the long legged pink flamingo. Other species include
The park is a sanctuary for the endangered white and black rhino and other species of big game are also to be found in abundance. These include the lion, leopard, giraffe, zebra, Grant’s and Thompson’s gazelles, warthog, etc
Arrive in time for lunch at the lodge/ camp
Spend the afternoon relaxing at the pool.
Embark on a late afternoon bird watching/game drive around the lake.
Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5
Embark on an early morning bird watching spree around the lake.
Return to the lodge for breakfast. After breakfast, resume your bird watching and game drive in the park.
Lunch will be taken at the lodge. After lunch, check out of the lodge and proceed to Hell’s Gate National Park in the neighboring Naivasha area. The Park is also famous for its birdlife.
Check in at the Naivasha Sopa Lodge on the shores of Lake Naivasha for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6
The lake region is also famous for its bird life. We recommend a boat ride on the lake to Crescent Island.
On your return, have lunch at Naivasha Sopa lodge and proceed on to the world renowned Masai Mara Game Reserve. A visit to this magnificent Safari Country would be incomplete without taking a safari to what is often described as the big game reserve on the continent. Masai Mara abounds with big game that can be sighted everywhere on the golden savannah plains. The Mara also enjoys a proliferation of birdlife with over 400 species on record, and is a photographers and naturalist’s paradise. The famous ‘Big Five’ i.e. lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino are found in abundance. Other species include hippo, crocodile, giraffe, zebra, eland, and cheetah, various species of gazelle, wildebeest, kongoni, and topi among many others.
On arrival at the Mara, check in at the Camp in time for lunch.
In the late afternoon, embark on a game drive.

Day 7
Embark on an early morning game drive .Return to the camp for lunch and relaxation
In the afternoon, embark on a bird watch/ game drive in the Mara
Return to the Camp for dinner and overnight stay
Day 8
After an early breakfast, embark on an early morning trek under the guidance of a naturalist just outside the Mara. This would be a perfect opportunity to catch sittings of different bird species.
Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.
In the afternoon, proceed for a cultural visit to a Masai Village and do the usual game drive.

Day 9-Day 12
After breakfast, check out of the hotel and return to Nairobi
Lunch may be taken at any of the numerous specialty restaurants available in Nairobi
After lunch, catch your flight to Malindi for the last leg of your safari.
On arrival at Malindi, check in at the. Time to let your hair down and relax on the palm fringed pure white sandy beaches of Malindi.
While at Malindi, we recommend the following activities:
- Visit to Arabuko Sokoke Forest, one of the last remaining ancient tropical forests.
- Visit to the Malindi Falconry. See different species of birds and snakes resident to the area
- Mida Creek: The area is a famous ornithological site due to the large number of habitats ( scrubland, forest, open woodland, open ocean, sand dunes, river mouth, reefs, creeks and seasonal fresh water pools), that all support distinct populations of birds. There are over 450 species on record which include the endangered spotted ground thrush, Sokoke Skops owl, Sokoke pipit, East Coast Akalat, Amani sunbird, Clarke’s weaver, Crab plovers, Greater flamingo, Terek sandpiper, Saunder’s tern, Heuglin’s gull, cormorant, African spoonbill etc.
- Hell’s Kitchen, Kenya’s very own version of the Grand Canyon.
- Gede Ruins: The mysterious ruins are ancient reminders of Kenya’s past civilizations.
- Kipepeo Butterfly Project: Butterflies are bred here for the European market; a local community based project.
- Indulge in various water sports including snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking and deep sea fishing.

Check out of the hotel and catch your flight back to Nairobi.
Spend the rest of the day shopping for souvenirs
In the evening you will be accompanied to the world renowned Carnivore Restaurant for your farewell dinner.
After dinner, transfer to the airport to catch your flight back home
